LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kamilah Butler upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2016 Scholarship Award by the Major
General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements
best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Kamilah Butler upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2016 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter
of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated at the 18th Annual
Tuition Assistance Program on Saturday, February 6, 2015, at Anthony's
Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and
WHEREAS, Kamilah Butler is a senior at Newburgh Free Academy where as
a member of the Varsity Cheerleading Team, she has been instrumental in
leading the team to two regional titles; and
WHEREAS, With a passion for style and fashion, Kamilah Butler is
currently a student in NFA's rigorous fashion program; she was also
recently chosen to attend the prestigious Career Opportunities in
Accounting Professions program at Long Island University's Brooklyn
campus, which she completed with distinction; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this extraordinary young woman gives of her time
and energies volunteering for numerous organizations, particularly the
Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign; and
WHEREAS, Kamilah Butler plans to attend a four-year college and ulti-
mately attain a master's degree in business marketing and fashion
merchandising; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her high school career, Kamilah Butler has
displayed exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community
responsibility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled;
and
WHEREAS, Kamilah Butler, in achieving this academic honor, may take
just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excel-
lence she brings to her family, friends, community and school; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kamilah Butler upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2016 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and to extend to her best wishes for a
future of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kamilah Butler.
