LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Gurley Precision Instruments upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of the Established Business
Award by the Downtown Troy Business Improvement District

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Gurley Precision Instruments upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the Established Business Award by the Downtown Troy Busi-
ness Improvement District; this momentous occasion was celebrated on
Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at Franklin Plaza, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Downtown Troy Business Improvement
District (BID) is to cultivate and advocate for the economic growth of
Downtown Troy by creating an inviting, dynamic and sustainable community
which celebrates the city's history while building towards its future;
and
WHEREAS, The Established Business Award is presented to a commercial
business that has been in downtown Troy for many years and has been
instrumental in its growth; and
WHEREAS, Gurley Precision Instruments was established in 1845, and is
known for making encoders, optics and test instrumentation; these
instruments produce the encoders which are exclusively used in F35 joint
strike fighter jets and satellites that defend our country; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of its President Martin Gordinier,
Gurley Precision Instruments currently employs 75 people at its Fulton
Street Plant; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history, Gurley Precision Instruments
has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities
which it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Gurley Precision
Instruments; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Gurley Precision Instruments upon the occasion of its designation
as recipient of the Established Business Award by the Downtown Troy
Business Improvement District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gurley Precision Instruments.
