LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jill Nagy, Esq. upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Kurt Clobridge Memorial Award by The
Legal Project

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jill Nagy,
Esq. upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Kurt
Clobridge Memorial Award by The Legal Project; this momentous occasion
was celebrated at its Pro Bono Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, October 14,
2015, at the Century House, Latham, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Kurt Clobridge Memorial Award is given to an attorney who
embodies the same spirit of pro bono volunteerism and selflessness as
that displayed by Kurt Clobridge, an active participant in The Legal
Project's programs; and
WHEREAS, Jill Nagy has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Troy, New York, Jill Nagy received her Bachelor
of Science degree from Cornell University in 1961; she went on to earn
her law degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1977; and
WHEREAS, Currently an Emeritus Attorney, Jill Nagy has spent the
majority of her illustrious 40-year career practicing law which focuses
on immigration; and
WHEREAS, With an unwavering dedication to help those in need, Jill
Nagy has taken on countless pro bono immigration clients and is a true
asset to The Legal Project; in addition, she offers local immigration
training and gives of her time and energies to various non-profit organ-
izations within the Capital District; and
WHEREAS, Active within her community, Jill Nagy is on the Boards of
the Rensselaer County League of Women Voters and Troy Chromatic
Concerts; she also serves as a tutor for literacy volunteers; and
WHEREAS, Through her steadfast and unremitting commitment to pro bono
service, Jill Nagy has been instrumental in filling the gap of the unmet
legal needs in New York State; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Jill Nagy has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Jill Nagy has displayed throughout
her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jill Nagy, Esq. upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Kurt Clobridge Memorial Award by The Legal Project; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jill Nagy, Esq.
