LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Troop 173, Boy Scouts of America
upon the occasion of celebrating its 50th Anniversary
WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging
significant milestones in the distinguished histories of its esteemed
entities; and
WHEREAS, Troop 173, Boy Scouts of America, of Yorktown, New York, will
celebrate its 50th Anniversary during a Dinner and Court of Honor to be
held at St. Patrick's Church Parish Center on Saturday, February 27,
2016; and
WHEREAS, Troop 173 was chartered on December 19, 1965 by St. Patrick's
Church in Yorktown, New York; and
WHEREAS, Troop 173 provides a safe and fun program of community
service, leadership development, and outdoor adventure based on the
values contained in the Scout Oath and Scout Law; and
WHEREAS, Troop 173 meets weekly, participates in a campout, and
completes a monthly service project; and
WHEREAS, Troop 173 has produced 85 Eagle Scouts, the highest rank in
Boy Scouts; Eagle Scout projects have benefitted St. Patrick's Church,
St. Patrick's School, FDR Park, Yorktown Parks and Recreation Depart-
ment, and the entire Yorktown community; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Troop 173 has 39 Troop members and 19 trained
adult volunteers; and
WHEREAS, Troop 173, Boy Scouts of America has a long and distinguished
history in the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Troop 173, Boy Scouts of America upon the occasion of cele-
brating its 50th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Troop 173, Boy Scouts of America, Yorktown, New York.
