LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Supervisor Michael Hammond upon the
occasion of his retirement after 42 years of distinguished service to
the Town of Knox
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is furthermore incumbent upon this Legislative Body to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Supervisor Michael Hammond upon the occasion of his retirement after 42
years of distinguished service to the Town of Knox; this auspicious
occasion was celebrated on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at the Township
Tavern in Altamont, New York; and
WHEREAS, Michael Hammond is from the Champlain Valley and came to Knox
in 1963; and
WHEREAS, He is a retired high school technology teacher, and has owned
and operated his own carpentry business, Mountain Woodshop in Altamont,
New York, since 1969; and
WHEREAS, Michael Hammond became Knox Town Supervisor when he was just
30 years-old; and
WHEREAS, As Knox Town Supervisor, Michael Hammond has come to know all
of its residents and has made it a priority to protect Knox's town char-
acter; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to its atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great state of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Supervisor Michael Hammond upon the occasion of his retirement
after 42 years of distinguished service to the Town of Knox; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael Hammond.
