LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Full
Gospel Assembly of Queens of Richmond Hill, New York, from February 5-7,
2016
WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and this Nation to pay
tribute to those institutions and individuals who have contributed to
the ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in commemorating the
10th Anniversary of the Full Gospel Assembly of Queens of Richmond Hill,
New York, to be feted at its Weekend Celebration from February 5-7,
2016; the theme at this auspicious event is entitled Great Expectations;
and
WHEREAS, This joyous occasion will be acknowledged with a myriad of
events to be held throughout the weekend including an Inaugural Richmond
Hill Community Resource Fair, which will allow the opportunity for busi-
nesses, community organizations and government agencies to provide their
services and resources to community members; a Black Tie Dinner Gala at
Jericho Terrace; and a 10th Anniversary Celebration Service to be held
on Sunday, February 7, 2016; and
WHEREAS, The Full Gospel Assembly of Queens was founded by Senior
Pastor Michael Bacchus on February 5, 2006, and held its first service
at Occasions Banquet Hall, Springfield Gardens, New York; since then,
attendance has doubled and the Church has purchased its own building;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the last decade, the leaders and congregation of
the Full Gospel Assembly of Queens have instituted several community
programs and services, including a food pantry, educational supplies and
clothing distribution, Scholarship Program, social services and various
referral systems; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable religious institution plans on adding several
other programs and services in the coming years such as Senior Center,
Educational Services, ESL Training, Daycare Center, and Professional
Skills Development, as well as a Community Counseling Center; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Pastors, Reverends Jonnel
and Aisha Doris, and Minister Heather Barfield, the Full Gospel Assembly
of Queens stands on the threshold of tomorrow, prepared to meet the
challenges of the coming decades while retaining that spiritual resolve
which characterizes its past; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
enduring religious institutions and to bring such institutions to the
attention of the people of this Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Full Gospel Assembly of Queens
of Richmond Hill, New York to be observed from February 5-7, 2016, fully
confident that this commemoration reflects the belief in those values
which enhance the dignity and purpose of life; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverends Jonnel and Aisha Doris, Pastors, and Pastor Heather
Barfield, Minister, The Full Gospel Assembly of Queens.
