LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring John Jaje upon the occasion of his
induction into the Warwick Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame Class of
2016 by the Warwick Valley Central School District

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those indi-
viduals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor John
Jaje upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick Valley Boys
Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2016 by the Warwick Valley Central
School District which was celebrated on Friday, January 22, 2016; and
WHEREAS, The outstanding efforts, commitment, and past accomplishments
of John Jaje on the hardwood have helped shape the history of the
Warwick Valley Wildcats Basketball Team and serve as an inspiration to
the current generation of players; and
WHEREAS, A 1966 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, John Jaje was
a three-year varsity player and starter under the tutelage of Head Coach
Vito Magdelinskas; and
WHEREAS, An all-around talented basketball player, John Jaje averaged
16.5 points a game as a senior and finished as the 6th leading scorer in
the Section IX Class B division; he also scored 16 points in a key win
over previously undefeated Valley Central to clinch a Section IX play-
off berth for the Wildcats; and
WHEREAS, In addition, John Jaje played an integral role as starting
forward in helping bring home the first Section IX championship for
Warwick during the 1965-66 season; and
WHEREAS, Athletes like John Jaje provide a tremendous service to the
future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of student-ath-
letes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success in their
future years; and
WHEREAS, John Jaje has clearly had an enduring impact on the youth of
the Warwick Valley Central School District, as well as on the communi-
ty-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for his
impressive dedication to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor John Jaje upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick
Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2016 by the Warwick Valley
Central School District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Jaje.
