LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Stella Bradley upon the occasion
of celebrating her 101st Birthday
WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Stella
Bradley upon the occasion of celebrating her 101st Birthday at the
Orange County Valley View Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Gosh-
en, New York; and
WHEREAS, Stella Bradley, the daughter of parents who were from White
Russia, was born on January 11, 1915, in New York City where she spent
her youth; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian, with her zest for life, has
inspired and enhanced the lives of her family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Stella Bradley and her husband moved to Long Island and
became the loving parents of four children, including a set of twins;
she began working at Howard Johnson's in the commissary, and after a
dedicated career which spanned for more than 30 years, she retired as a
manager; and
WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother, Stella Bradley and her family
moved to Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, and then to Warwick, New York, where
Stella lived for 15 years; and
WHEREAS, Stella Bradley is the proud grandmother of seven grandchil-
dren and 10 great-grandchildren; one of her proudest moments was learn-
ing that her grandson is among one of the top French horn players on the
East coast; and
WHEREAS, At the senior center, Stella Bradley enjoys life by dancing,
continuing to speak several languages including Russian and Ukrainian,
and volunteering her time helping others whenever she can; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished woman has experienced the incredible joys
and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the stamina
and courage to savor a full life; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have witnessed
and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and awesome
achievements of this country during the last century, while themselves
contributing to the growth and excellence of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Stella Bradley upon the occasion of celebrating her 101st
Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stella Bradley.
