LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Shannon Cody upon the occasion of
being named a Woman in Leadership by the Buffalo Niagara Chapter of New
York State Women, Inc.

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Shannon Cody has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Shannon Cody
upon the occasion of being named a Woman in Leadership by the Buffalo
Niagara Chapter of New York State Women, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, At the young age of 16, Shannon Cody began working for
Kenmore, New York, florist Michael Murray, and continued working there
for several years; and
WHEREAS, An animal advocate, Shannon Cody earned her Bachelor's degree
in both Veterinary Technology and Biology from Medaille College,
Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, Once Shannon Cody learned of her boss' decision to retire,
however, she decided to pursue her love of all things floral and
reopened the shop as Michael's Floral Design in June of 2015; and
WHEREAS, Since that time, Shannon Cody has created a welcoming floral
shop right in the heart of the Village of Kenmore, providing corsages
for proms and arrangements for high school graduations to bouquets for
the recitals at a dance studio just down the street; and
WHEREAS, In addition to fresh-cut flowers and floral arrangements,
Shannon Cody supports local businesses, artisans and designers by carry-
ing their unique Buffalo gifts; and
WHEREAS, Small Businesses such as Michael's Floral Design exert a
strong, positive influence on the communities they serve and are a
crucial element in the economy of New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Shannon Cody upon the occasion of being named a Woman in Leader-
ship by the Buffalo Niagara Chapter of New York State Women, Inc.; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Shannon Cody, Owner, Michael's Floral Design.
