LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the National Council of Negro Women,
Inc., Queens County Section, upon the occasion of recognizing National
Go Red for Women Day on February 5, 2016

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those organizations within our midst who have
made significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals and organizations it wishes to recognize for
their valued contributions to the success and progress of society and
publicly acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic
humanity among us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the National
Council of Negro Women, Inc., Queens County Section, in collaboration
with EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care, upon the occasion of recognizing
National Go Red for Women Day on Friday, February 5, 2016, in Cambria
Heights, New York; and
WHEREAS, National Go Red for Women Day focuses on the impact heart
disease has on women; this auspicious event includes free Zumba classes,
heart health interactive games, Women and Heart Disease educational
sessions, giveaways and light refreshments; and
WHEREAS, February is designated as American Heart Month, and Friday,
February 5, 2016, is National Wear Red Day in recognition of the impor-
tance of the ongoing fight against heart disease and stroke; and
WHEREAS, Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association's national
call for women by women, to take charge of their health and live strong-
er, healthier lives; Go Red for Women combines style with substance, and
the red dress and the color red are the American Heart Association's
symbols for women and heart disease; the campaign helps raise donations
to fund research to help save lives; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history, the National Council of Negro
Women, Inc., Queens County Section, has demonstrated continuous service
to the residents and communities which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc.,
Queens County Section, is in direct correlation to the efforts of its
members, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization
and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the National Council of
Negro Women, Inc., Queens County Section; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., Queens County
Section, upon the occasion of recognizing National Go Red for Women Day
on February 5, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., Queens County
Section.
