LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Leslie Pieters upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Dance Teacher of the Year Award by the
New York State Association for Health, Physical Education and Dance
WHEREAS, The arts, in whatever form depicted, are central to human
expression; they are truly a universal language and their contribution
to the development of friendship and understanding among all peoples
cannot be underestimated; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals in the teaching profession who distinguish
themselves in their commitment to developing the artistic talents of
their students; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Leslie Pieters upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Dance Teacher of the Year Award by the New York State Association for
Health, Physical Education and Dance which was celebrated at the 78th
Annual JB Nash Awards Dinner; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Merrick, New York, Leslie Pieters is a Health
and Physical Education teacher in the Roosevelt School District who is
known for her passionate dedication and outstanding achievements in the
field of teaching; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed educator has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; she has facilitated several
successful grant applications to combat childhood obesity in her area,
and is an active member in the Nassau Zone Board; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her illustrious career thus far, Leslie Pieters
has brought an uncompromising standard of excellence to her work and a
warm sense of caring and concern to every young person she inspires; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Leslie Pieters has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those teachers
who enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have
shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence in their profession
certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Leslie Pieters upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Dance Teacher of the Year Award by the New York State Association
for Health, Physical Education and Dance; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Leslie Pieters.
