LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Ulrich
Planfiling

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize and
acknowledge certain exemplary companies that continue to provide superi-
or products and have become a beacon of prosperity within the community;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 100th Anniversary of Ulrich Planfiling, of Lakewood, New York;
and
WHEREAS, In 1915, Charles B. Ulrich patented a revolutionary vertical
filing system for storing large documents, a system which remains an
industry standard today; and
WHEREAS, Ulrich's original design was constructed of wood and incorpo-
rated the thriving furniture industry in Jamestown; the company later
moved to its permanent headquarters in Lakewood under Charles B. Ulrich
II; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of President Daniel Berry,
Ulrich Planfiling has, over the years, refined their original design to
incorporate sheet metal and expanded their product line adapting to
changes in the business world; today, they offer filing systems that are
water and fire resistant, units with wheels, and custom manufactured
steel office furniture, thus remaining a leader in the filing industry;
and
WHEREAS, Ulrich Planfiling's products are now used around the globe,
including companies and organizations in the United States, Canada,
Australia, the Middle East, and Europe, as well as the United Nations;
and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize those businesses and organizations which have achieved notable
success in this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Ulrich Planfiling; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Daniel Berry, President of Ulrich Planfiling.
