LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Patrice Voto upon the occasion of
her induction into the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society at Baldwin Wallace
University

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to call attention to
those young people within our midst whose outstanding academic accom-
plishments bring pride to their families, their communities, and to the
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Patrice Voto upon the occasion of her induction into the Dayton C.
Miller Honor Society at Baldwin Wallace University; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Lake View, New York, Patrice Voto was a gradu-
ate of Nardin Academy in Buffalo, New York; currently, she is a Music
Education and Vocal Performance major at Baldwin Wallace University in
Berea, Ohio; and
WHEREAS, In order to be considered for induction into the Dayton C.
Miller Honor Society, students are required to earn a minimum of 70
semester hours, with at least 32 semester hours earned at Baldwin
Wallace University; from those students meeting the semester require-
ment, the top 100 current student Grade Point Averages (GPAs) are eligi-
ble for membership; and
WHEREAS, Membership in the elite Honor Society is achieved by less
than four percent of the undergraduate student body at Baldwin Wallace
University; in 2016, the average GPA was 3.775; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1948, the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society honors
the memory of Baldwin Wallace University alumnus Dayton C. Miller, a
professor of Physics at the Case Institute for many years, who conducted
notable research into the science of acoustics and assembled a unique
collection of flutes, currently held by the Smithsonian Institute in
Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, A young woman of singular distinction, Patrice Voto has
distinguished herself as an able scholar, establishing a high standard
of academic excellence rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose,
Patrice Voto now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplish-
ments and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and
appreciating the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers,
coaches and parents; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Patrice Voto upon the occasion of her induction into the
Dayton C. Miller Honor Society at Baldwin Wallace University, and to
extend to her the best wishes of this Legislative Body for a future of
purposeful success and well-being, fully confident of her response to a
promising future and appreciative of the model she represents for all
aspiring young people of the Empire State; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Patrice Voto.
