LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating student-athlete Dylan Wood upon
the occasion of achieving his 200th career wrestling victory

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the State of New York who, by
achieving outstanding success in athletic competition, have inspired and
brought pride to their school and community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late student-athlete Dylan Wood upon the occasion of achieving his 200th
career wrestling victory; and
WHEREAS, Dylan Wood, a senior at Walton High School, captured his
200th career win by pinning his opponent from Unatego in two minutes, 53
seconds at a dual-team tournament in Delhi, New York; and
WHEREAS, A two-time Section IV Division II champion, Dylan Wood has
wrestled for his school's Varsity team since seventh grade, and has an
outstanding record of 204-35 across six seasons with three New York
State tournament appearances; and
WHEREAS, In 2016, this esteemed young athlete has so far achieved 35
wins, including the Section IV Class C Championship at 138 pounds; he is
also seeking his fourth New York State tournament berth; and
WHEREAS, Dylan Wood holds Walton High School's record for all time
wins, and is the only person to break the 200-win mark in school histo-
ry; during his varsity career, he was loyally and enthusiastically
supported by family, fans, friends and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Dylan Wood has clearly made a contribution to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his school; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate student-athlete Dylan Wood upon the occasion of achieving
his 200th career wrestling victory; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dylan Wood.
