LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Hudson Valley Mariners upon
the occasion of capturing the 2015 NABA Florida World Series
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those exemplary sports teams within the State of New York who
have inspired and brought pride to their community by achieving
outstanding success in athletic competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the Hudson Valley Mariners upon the occasion of capturing the 2015
NABA Florida World Series on November 5-8, 2015, in Jupiter, Florida;
and
WHEREAS, Competing against 10 of the top teams from across the United
States and Canada, the Hudson Valley Mariners combined exceptional
pitching, timely hitting, solid defense and a great strategy to win
their fourth championship in the past seven years; and
WHEREAS, On their way to winning the 2015 NABA Florida World Series
title, the New York Mariners went 4-1 in Pool Play, including wins over
the Colorado Pirates and Rochester Cardinals; and
WHEREAS, Center Fielder Tim Battle, was the Mariners' most valuable
player of the tournament, hitting an incredible .666 and going 18/27
with six doubles, one triple, and 11 runs scored, as well as 10 stolen
bases and no errors; and
WHEREAS, Veteran pitcher Jessie Smith won both the opening game and
game seven within four days as a starter to lead the Mariners to the
title; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the efforts of Player/Manager Dave Prince and Coach/Player Scott
Marsh, skilled and inspirational tutors who have done a superb job in
guiding, molding and inspiring the Mariners toward their goals; and
WHEREAS, Loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans,
friends and the community at large, the New York Mariners have proven
themselves to be a brotherhood of athletic ability and an unbeatable
combination of talents; and
WHEREAS, The members of the New York Mariners who were issued 2015
Florida World Series rings are: Steve Aurigemma, Dan Miller, Jared Bahn-
sen, Jessie Smith, Jeremy Lopez, Josh Peterson, Josh Maddocks, Bevan
Gouveiah, Jerry Lehman, Trevor Purcell, Dan Slate, Nick Dimarco, Greg
Crouser, Casey Chenoweth, Larry Kowaleeski, Zach Westcott, Sean Barton,
Tim Battle, Charles Sciutti, J.J. Pearsall, and James Shorter;
Manager/Player David Prince; and Coach/Player Scott March; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Hudson Valley Mariners upon the occasion
of capturing the 2015 NABA Florida World Series; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the members of the Hudson Valley Mariners, Manager/Player
David Prince, and Coach/Player Scott March.
