LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Police Officer Daniel W. Biette for his
generous contributions in refurbishing Oak Street Park located in the
West Hill Neighborhood of Albany, New York

WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished
values, worthy of safeguarding, and this Legislative Body is moved to
honor those individuals who serve to preserve and protect such values,
lauding particularly their unwavering courage and dedication in the
daily performance of their duties; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Police Officer
Daniel W. Biette for his generous contributions in refurbishing Oak
Street Park located in the West Hill Neighborhood of Albany, New York;
and
WHEREAS, For the past 14 years, Daniel W. Biette has served the Albany
Police Department with honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, A graduate from the Zone Five Regional Law Enforcement Train-
ing Center in 2001, Daniel W. Biette was first assigned to the South
Station serving as Patrol Officer; in 2010, he was assigned to the
Neighborhood Engagement Unit where he currently serves as a Beat Officer
in the West Hill Neighborhood of Albany; and
WHEREAS, During his time serving the Neighborhood Engagement Unit,
Police Officer Daniel W. Biette has participated in numerous community
events, and played a vital role in organizing the West Hill Bicycle
Rodeos for the children in the community; he has become a familiar face
and continues to be heavily involved in several events throughout the
community he serves; and
WHEREAS, In the fall of 2012, Police Officer Daniel W. Biette proposed
an idea of refurbishing and expanding a park in the West Hill neighbor-
hood of Albany; his persistent efforts and community policing role in
building a stronger, healthier community has resulted in the creation of
Oak Street Park which will include a new playground and provide a safe
environment with recreational opportunities for all generations; and
WHEREAS, Through his dedication and commitment to the West Hill commu-
nity, Police Officer Daniel W. Biette has provided a generous amount of
funds for the revitalization of Oak Street Park; he is committed to
engaging the neighborhood youth on a daily basis to foster a trusting
relationship; and
WHEREAS, Police Officer Daniel W. Biette has been the recipient of
many awards and accolades for his exceptional police service including
the Meritorious Police Duty Award, Unit Citation, and Community Service
Award; and
WHEREAS, In 2013, Police Officer Daniel W. Biette earned the esteemed
Police Officer of the Year Award for his outstanding work in the commu-
nity as an officer in the Neighborhood Engagement Unit; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Tina, and their two
daughters, as well as two grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to
be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize and commend such outstanding
law enforcement officers as Police Officer Daniel W. Biette for their
valued contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Police Officer Daniel W. Biette for his generous contributions in

refurbishing Oak Street Park located in the West Hill Neighborhood of
Albany, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Police Officer Daniel W. Biette.
