LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Fran Lubrano D'Alessandro upon the occa-
sion of her designation for special recognition by the Port Washington
Parent Resource Center on March 18, 2016
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Fran Lubrano D'Alessandro has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Fran Lubrano
D'Alessandro upon the occasion of her designation for special recogni-
tion by the Port Washington Parent Resource Center, to be celebrated at
its Annual Gala on Friday, March 18, 2016, at the Village Club of Sands
Point; and
WHEREAS, For more than 35 years, the Parent Resource Center (PRC) has
been an integral part of the Port Washington community, bringing togeth-
er families with young children to play, learn, grow, and make life-long
friendships; and
WHEREAS, Fran Lubrano D'Alessandro moved to Port Washington, New York,
in 1999, during which time she became a member of the Parent Resource
Center; after spending many years in various accounting positions in the
corporate world she decided to leave and raise her children; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to community
service and giving back, Fran Lubrano D'Alessandro began her volunteer-
ism in her children's schools as a class parent and various activities
in the HSA; and
WHEREAS, In addition, she was active in supporting roles in her son's
Boy Scout Troop, a Girl Scout Leader for her daughter's troop for 13
years, and a Community Chest board member; and
WHEREAS, As her children got older she expanded her efforts; after
losing her father to blood cancer, Fran Lubrano D'Alessandro became a
vigilant supporter of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society where she is the
co-chair of its Leadership Committee; she was also nominated to compete
in the organization's Man/Woman of the Year campaign, during which time
she was instrumental in raising more than $87,000; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Fran Lubrano D'Alessandro is a founding member
of Warriors for a Cause, an organization dedicated to supporting various
charitable causes such as the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and the Stephen
Siller Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Fran Lubrano D'Alessandro sincerely believes in the mission
of the Parent Resource Center, and the critical role it plays in
supporting the families and children of Port Washington; she currently
serves as the head bookkeeper for this vital organization; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Fran Lubrano D'Alessandro has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, John, and their
two children, John and Juliana, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Fran Lubrano D'Alessandro has
displayed throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Fran Lubrano D'Alessandro upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Port Washington Parent Resource Center on
March 18, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Fran Lubrano D'Alessandro.
