LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Woods
Valley Ski Area in Westernville, New York

WHEREAS; It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of Woods Valley Ski Area in Westernville, New
York; a day-long celebration complete with fireworks and live music was
held on Saturday, January 3, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Woods Valley Ski Area was established in 1964, by David Woods
and his wife; and officially opened on January 3, 1965; the ski area has
grown from a one hill ski facility to a winter attraction with numerous
skiing and snowboarding trails, as well as a tubing park; and
WHEREAS, Many outdoor enthusiasts remember growing up at Woods Valley
Ski Area, and continue to enjoy its facilities; today, Tim Woods contin-
ues his father's legacy by continually expanding and offering new expe-
riences, such as a Sun Kid Wonder Carpet, Low Energy snowmaking equip-
ment, and an expanded retail shop; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident it will continue to enjoy the sparkling
successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Woods Valley Ski Area in Western-
ville, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Tim Woods, owner of Woods Valley Ski Area.
