LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Edward Cosgrove upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Spirit of St. Francis Award by Bishop
Timon-St. Jude High School on February 20, 2016
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the great
State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good works
of those civic-minded community members who dedicate their lives and
careers to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Edward
Cosgrove upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Spirit
of St. Francis Award by Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School, feted at a
Ceremony celebrating the John Timon Society on Saturday, February 20,
2016, at the Orchard Park Country Club, Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, The John Timon Society, named for the first Catholic Bishop
of Buffalo and namesake of the Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School, honors
Alumni who have distinguished themselves in their careers and have made
significant contributions to their church and to the community; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School Class of
1952, Edward Cosgrove received this auspicious award for his demon-
stration of the ideals of St. Francis of Assisi in service to church and
community; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Orchard Park, New York, Edward Cosgrove has
served as a practicing Attorney for more than 50 years; and
WHEREAS, Edward Cosgrove has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A faithful parishioner at Nativity of Our Lord Church,
Orchard Park, New York, Edward Cosgrove has held the position of Chair-
man and Trustee of both D'Youville College and Christ the King Seminary;
and
WHEREAS, For the last 28 years, this remarkable man has chaired and
sponsored the Catholic Diocesan Retirement Fund for the Religious Drive;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Edward Cosgrove has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Edward Cosgrove has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Edward Cosgrove upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Spirit of St. Francis Award by Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School
on February 20, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Edward Cosgrove.
