LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Dr. Edmund Oparanozie upon the occa-
sion of his designation for special recognition by the National Action
Network, West Nassau Chapter, on April 17, 2016

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Edmund Oparanozie has given not only of his time and
energies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. Edmund
Oparanozie upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
by the National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter to be celebrated at
its 3rd Annual Women's Prestigious Gala Awards Dinner held on Sunday,
April 17, 2016, at Chateau Briand Caterers in Carle Place, New York; and
WHEREAS, The National Action Network's Annual Women's Prestigious Gala
Awards Dinner recognizes outstanding individuals who demonstrate excel-
lence in their work, service and commitment to the Jewish, Nigerian,
Caribbean, Spanish, Haitian and American communities; and
WHEREAS, The West Nassau Chapter, under the able leadership of
District Chairperson, Pastor Emmanuel Asse, continues the mission of NAN
which fulfills a vital role in moving our Nation forward; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Edmund Oparanozie was born into the loving Christian
family of Godfery and Alice Oparanozie in Nnekede Owerri West Local
Government, Imo State, Nigeria; and
WHEREAS, Following the example of his parents' work ethic and their
encouragement to continue his education, in 1980, Dr. Edmund Oparanozie
immigrated to the United States to increase his knowledge and further
his education; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Edmund Oparanozie earned a Bachelor's degree in Biolog-
ical Sciences from The City University of New York, formerly Medgar
Evers College, a Master's degree in Psychology from Lincoln University
in Pennsylvania as well as a Doctorate degree from Argosy School of
Psychology and Behavioral Sciences; and
WHEREAS, For nearly 20 years in the counseling profession, Dr. Edmund
Oparanozie has been able to fulfill his passion and live his dream of
helping others; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Edmund Oparanozie has worked with children and youth as a
Behavioral Specialist serving as a liaison between schools, agencies and
juvenile detention facilities; he has participated in surveys to deter-
mine how to support the needs of children with autistic tendencies as
well as to gather information relating to juvenile gang involvements and
how to curb gang activities in communities; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Dr. Edmund Oparanozie is employed by the Common-
wealth of Pennsylvania as a Psychologist working with geriatric popu-
lations with comorbid psychological disorders; he also serves as a Disa-
bility Rights Committee member advocating for the rights of disabled
patients implementing protocols to ensure their equal rights; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Edmund Oparanozie has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dr. Edmund Oparanozie has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his loving wife and two bril-
liant children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Dr. Edmund Oparanozie has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dr. Edmund Oparanozie upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Edmund Oparanozie.
