LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Anthony Mancinelli, the world's
oldest barber, upon the occasion of celebrating his 105th Birthday on
March 2, 2016

WHEREAS, A great community is only as great as those persons who provide
exemplary service, whether through unique personal achievement in their
profession or simply through a lifetime of good citizenship; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Anthony
Mancinelli upon the occasion of celebrating his 105th Birthday on
Wednesday, March 2, 2016; in addition, Gillette will recognize this
remarkable centenarian as the world's oldest barber, officially
confirmed by THE GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS; and
WHEREAS, On October 25, 2007, Anthony Mancinelli successfully broke
the Guinness World Record for oldest practicing barber, and since then,
has been consistently breaking his own world record; and
WHEREAS, Born in Italy on March 2, 1911, Anthony Mancinelli immigrated
to the United States with his family in 1919; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Mancinelli began his longtime illustrious career
barbering at the young age of 12, with a goal of earning extra money to
help his family out financially; and
WHEREAS, For years, Anthony Mancinelli had his own barbershop on
Liberty Street in Newburgh, New York; he sold that particular shop in
1987, and continued to work for other barbershops; and
WHEREAS, Today, at the remarkable age of 105, Anthony Mancinelli
continues to cut hair at Fantastic Cuts in New Windsor, New York; and
WHEREAS, With no thoughts of retirement, Anthony Mancinelli plans on
celebrating his birthday by doing what he loves most, cutting hair;
after nine decades, his mind is still keen, his eyes still sharp, his
smile still radiant and his hands still steady; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian, with his zest for life and
timeless grace, has inspired and enhanced the lives of the many gener-
ations of loyal customers; and
WHEREAS, With a heart of gold, Anthony Mancinelli, who stills drives,
lives alone and cuts his own hair, has enriched the lives of his clien-
tele through his passion for life and his genuine love for others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
express its highest admiration for Anthony Mancinelli and to wish him a
very Happy Birthday and continued success in all of his future endeav-
ors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Anthony Mancinelli upon the occasion of celebrating his
105th Birthday on March 2, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Anthony Mancinelli.
