LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Stuart Palczak upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Bertha E. Brimmer Medal by the Universi-
ty at Albany Alumni Association
WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging its
esteemed residents who have distinguished themselves in their profession
and in their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Stuart Palczak upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Bertha E. Brimmer Medal by the University at Albany Alumni Association;
and
WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is bestowed upon alumni who have
exhibited excellence in and dedication to teaching kindergarten through
12th grade; and
WHEREAS, Stuart Palczak was raised by his parents, fellow educators,
Claude and Donna Palczak, in Amsterdam, New York; in 1983, Stuart gradu-
ated from Amsterdam High School and then went on to earn a master's
degree in Education at The State University of New York at Albany; and
WHEREAS, In 1989, Stuart Palczak began his illustrious career at Amst-
erdam High School; today, he teaches both 10th grade Global History and
12th grade Government classes; he also serves as the Social Studies
curriculum leader; and
WHEREAS, Well-loved by his students, Stuart Palczak takes pride in
connecting with them, and makes learning interesting by working current
events into his history lessons; and
WHEREAS, Stuart Palczak is a dedicated modified wrestling coach and a
coach for the high school track and cross country teams; he not only
instructs in sporting techniques, he also imparts life lessons; and
WHEREAS, In 2005, Stuart Palczak was honored to receive the Daughters
of the American Revolution's New York State History Teacher of the Year
Award, and in 2007, he was recognized as Teacher of the Month by Mont-
gomery County Life magazine; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Deanna, who is a
lunch monitor and security adviser at the high school, and his two chil-
dren, McKenna and Jake, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his
life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Stuart Palczak has exhibited the true spirit of the Bertha E.
Brimmer Medal through his extraordinary success and dedication to educa-
tion; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Stuart Palczak upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Bertha E. Brimmer Medal by the University at Albany Alumni Asso-
ciation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stuart Palczak.
