LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending James Houseknecht upon the occasion of
his retirement after 57 years of distinguished service to Buffalo Public
Schools
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have
devoted themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their
community and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
James Houseknecht upon the occasion of his retirement after 57 years of
distinguished service to Buffalo Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, James Houseknecht's boundless energy and loyalty for the
students and staff, as well as his sense of duty and responsibility all
define him as a man of singular distinction; and
WHEREAS, James Houseknecht began working in the Buffalo Public School
system in March of 1959; for almost six decades, he has served as a
custodian at the Harvey Austin Elementary School, a position from which
he will officially retire in 2016; and
WHEREAS, Currently, at the age of 77, James Houseknecht holds the
title of Heating Equipment Technician; in this position he strives to
make sure the school's heating system is continuously operating, ensur-
ing the children and the staff are both comfortable and safe; and
WHEREAS, Known for his strong work ethic and steadfast character,
James Houseknecht is always at work early and stays late to make sure
the school is running efficiently; and
WHEREAS, After his much deserved retirement, James Houseknecht looks
forward to spending more time with his wife, Patricia, and his two chil-
dren, as well as his extended family; an animal lover, he will also
enjoy caring for horses at a local farm; and
WHEREAS, James Houseknecht's skills and high standards of excellence
have truly benefited the entire Buffalo Public School community; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his esteemed career, James Houseknecht has served
the Buffalo Public School system with intelligence and caring dedi-
cation, continuously striving to effectively fulfill the duties of his
position; and
WHEREAS, Sincerely loved and greatly respected by all those with whom
he worked, James Houseknecht will be remembered for his honesty, integ-
rity, keen sense of duty and ability to show a unique grasp of human
problems in his official acts; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend James Houseknecht upon the occasion of his retirement after 57
years of distinguished service to Buffalo Public Schools, and to wish
him continued success in all of his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to James Houseknecht.
