LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Dr. Emmanuel Nwozuzu, PhD R.N. upon
the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the National
Action Network, West Nassau Chapter, on April 17, 2016

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Emmanuel Nwozuzu has given not only of his time and ener-
gies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. Emmanuel
Nwozuzu, PhD R.N. upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter to be
celebrated at its 3rd Annual Women's Prestigious Gala Awards Dinner held
on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Chateau Briand Caterers in Carle Place,
New York; and
WHEREAS, The National Action Network's Annual Women's Prestigious Gala
Awards Dinner recognizes outstanding individuals who demonstrate excel-
lence in their work, service and commitment to the Jewish, Nigerian,
Caribbean, Spanish, Haitian and American communities; and
WHEREAS, The West Nassau Chapter, under the able leadership of
District Chairperson, Pastor Emmanuel Asse, continues the mission of NAN
which fulfills a vital role in moving our Nation forward; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Emmanuel Nwozuzu was born in Nigeria, West Africa, to
Christopher Nwozuzu and Catherine Kamalu; his father learned the value
of a good education while making uniforms for the Army during World War
II and subsequently, sacrificed his belongings to educate his six chil-
dren; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Emmanuel Nwozuzu was educated in primary and secondary
schools managed by Catholic Irish Missionaries in Owerri, Nigeria; he
was mentored by his high school Chemistry and Zoology teachers who
helped sharpen his interest in Science; and
WHEREAS, In 1971, Dr. Emmanuel Nwozuzu graduated from the University
of Nigeria with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science; he
obtained his master's degree in 1982 from Iowa State University in Ames,
Iowa, and three years later, earned his PhD in Science Education; and
WHEREAS, From 1985 through 2005, Dr. Emmanuel Nwozuzu was a Science
Teacher in the New York Public School System; due to his strong belief
in life-long learning, he went back to school and, in 1996, graduated
with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Pace University in
Pleasantville, New York; and
WHEREAS, During this period, Dr. Emmanuel Nwozuzu was awarded the 2005
United States Presidential Recognition Award; two years later, he was
honored with the United States Congressional Humanitarian Award; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Emmanuel Nwozuzu's career in healthcare included working
at the Wyckoff Medical Center Emergency Room as an Emergency Care Nurse
and taking on the position of Director of Staff Development at Saint
John's Episcopal Hospital Nursing Home; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Dr. Emmanuel Nwozuzu served as Clinical Manager
for Revival Home Care Agency in Brooklyn, New York, and for Village Care
Agency in Manhattan, New York, where he cared for HIV/AIDs patients; and
WHEREAS, Today, Dr. Emmanuel Nwozuzu is a Professor of Nursing at
Igbans Institute of Vocational Training in Springfield Gardens, New
York, and has authored two books; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Emmanuel Nwozuzu has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, Active in his community as well as in his parish church, Dr.
Emmanuel Nwozuzu serves as the current Vice President of the National
Action Network, west Nassau Chapter, in-charge of Health Affairs; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dr. Emmanuel Nwozuzu has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his loving wife, Cordelia,
their four children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his
life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Dr. Emmanuel Nwozuzu has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dr. Emmanuel Nwozuzu, PhD R.N. upon the occasion of his desig-
nation for special recognition by the National Action Network, West
Nassau Chapter; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Emmanuel Nwozuzu, PhD R.N.
