LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ed Moore, Sr. upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2014 Henry Crandall Award by the Cran-
dall Public Library on September 13, 2014

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, A great community is only as great as those persons and
organizations that provide exemplary service, whether through partic-
ipation in voluntary programs, through unique personal achievement in
their profession or other endeavors, or simply through a lifetime of
good citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ed
Moore, Sr. upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2014
Henry Crandall Award by the Crandall Public Library, Glens Falls, New
York, to be celebrated at its Annual Fall Fundraiser, Gala Noir: A
Murderous Affair, hosted by Joe Donahue of WAMC's The Roundtable, on
Saturday, September 13, 2014, at the Great Escape Lodge, Queensbury, New
York; and
WHEREAS, The Henry Crandall Award recognizes one individual each year
who has demonstrated the values and legacy of Library founder Henry
Crandall (1821-1913), including generosity, perseverance, loyalty,
compassion, civic pride, and philanthropy; and
WHEREAS, Ed Moore, Sr., owner of French Mountain Commons and Log Jam
Outlet Centers, will receive this auspicious honor for his long-stand-
ing, consistent commitment to his community as well as his desire to
improve the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, Ed Moore, Sr. has served on the board of the Charles R. Wood
Theater in Glens Falls for 11 years and the Seagle Music Colony in
Schroon Lake for a decade; in addition, he is involved with the HEAR
Foundation, which sponsors an orphanage for girls in Guatemala, and
locally supports the Wait House, The Hyde Collection, Glens Falls Hospi-
tal, the YMCA, and Crandall Public Library, where he served on a plan-
ning committee during the early stages of the recent expansion and reno-
vation; and
WHEREAS, After running a successful excavating business in Staten
Island for over 25 years, Ed Moore, Sr. moved his family to Queensbury
in 1987; he fell in love with the Adirondack Mountains and has remained
there ever since; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his three children, Natalie,
Edward, and Zachary, and his six grandchildren, all of whom feel privi-
leged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Ed Moore, Sr. has displayed through-
out his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ed Moore, Sr. upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2014 Henry Crandall Award by the Crandall Public Library on Septem-
ber 13, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ed Moore, Sr.
