LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Trooper Lindsey N. Seigerman in recogni-
tion of her heroic actions in rescuing a father and his child from a
house fire on January 6, 2016

WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished values
worthy of safeguarding, and this Legislative Body is moved to honor
those exemplary public servants who devote their lives to preserving and
protecting such values; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Trooper Lindsey N. Seigerman in recognition of her heroic actions in
rescuing a father and his child from a house fire on January 6, 2016;
and
WHEREAS, Trooper Lindsey N. Seigerman has proudly served as a member
of the New York State Police since 2013; she is currently assigned to
the State Police Wurtsboro Barracks, Troop F, in Wurtsboro, New York;
and
WHEREAS, On January 6, 2016, Trooper Lindsey N. Seigerman responded to
a Sullivan County 911 call for a nearby house fire at a residence in
Monticello, New York; arriving before the fire department, she observed
heavy smoke coming from the residence; and
WHEREAS, Upon being informed that there were two occupants inside the
burning house, Trooper Lindsey N. Seigerman acted swiftly and ran into
the building where she located a father and his child; she was then able
to convince the man to leave the premises and carried the child out of
the house before either party was injured; and
WHEREAS, After suffering from smoke inhalation due to the blaze,
Trooper Lindsey N. Seigerman was transported to Catskill Regional
Medical Center where she was treated and released the same day; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed law enforcement officer should be meritoriously
commended for remaining calm under pressure and for showing valor and
true courage while performing a lifesaving deed; and
WHEREAS, Through her heroic actions, Trooper Lindsey N. Seigerman
demonstrated her character and compassion for the welfare of others,
personifying the collective concern of public servants across the commu-
nity of the State of New York who respond when others are in need of
help; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those extraor-
dinary individuals who unselfishly devote their lives to the preserva-
tion of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full
praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Trooper Lindsey N. Seigerman in recognition of her heroic actions
in rescuing a father and child from a house fire on January 6, 2016; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Trooper Lindsey N. Seigerman.
