LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Pearl's Kosher Bake Shop upon the
occasion of receiving the Hakarat Hatov Tribute by Young Israel of
Plainview on April 3, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly recognize those businesses within the State of New York which
have positively impacted their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Pearl's Kosher Bake Shop upon the occasion of receiving the Hakarat
Hatov Tribute by Young Israel of Plainview to be celebrated at its 44th
Annual Testimonial Dinner on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at the Jericho
Jewish Center, Jericho, New York; and
WHEREAS, Forty years ago, Pearl Feder and her sister Rita Roysman
founded Pearl's Kosher Bake Shop in the Bronx; after seven years of
business, they relocated to Plainview, New York, where they served the
community for the next 33 years; and
WHEREAS, In January of 2016, Pearl Feder and Rita Roysman decided to
retire, closing Pearl's Kosher Bake Shop after four decades of providing
delicious food to its loyal customers; and
WHEREAS, As a focal point of the entire Jewish population of Plain-
view, Pearl's Kosher Bake Shop opened its doors to the children of The
Hebrew Academy of Nassau County to come, see, touch and learn first-hand
how to bake Hamantashin for Purim; and
WHEREAS, Pearl Feder and Rita Roysman's delectable products were so
well-liked that they were sold in grocery stores all over New York; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, and to wish Pearl Feder and Rita Roysman continued good
health and success in all their future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Pearl's Kosher Bake Shop upon the occasion of receiving the
Hakarat Hatov Tribute by Young Israel of Plainview on April 3, 2016; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Pearl Feder and Rita Roysman, co-owners, Pearl's Kosher Bake
Shop.
