LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Dr. James Langlois upon the occa-
sion of being named the 2015 New York State School Superintendent of the
Year by the State Council of School Superintendents

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled; its
history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its educa-
tional professionals and the students they inspire; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have been instru-
mental in developing character and academic excellence in the young
people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Dr.
James Langlois upon the occasion of being named the 2015 New York State
School Superintendent of the Year by the State Council of School Super-
intendents; a surprise celebration will be held in his honor on Wednes-
day, February 4, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Dr. James Langlois now becomes New York's candidate for
National Superintendent of the Year, which will be awarded at AASA's
National Conference on Education in San Diego in February of 2015; and
WHEREAS, Currently Superintendent of the Putnam/Northern Westchester
BOCES, Dr. James Langlois began his distinguished career in education 50
years ago, as a high school English teacher in Connecticut; and
WHEREAS, Dr. James Langlois held several leadership positions in
public schools in Manhattan and the Bronx before becoming Assistant
Superintendent on Long Island; he also served eight years as Superinten-
dent for the Goshen Central School District, before his current posi-
tion, which he has held for the past 10 years; and
WHEREAS, Superintendents like Dr. James Langlois provide a tremendous
service to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
young people in their educational journeys and ensuring their success in
their future years; and
WHEREAS, Dr. James Langlois has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of the State of New York, and accordingly merits recognition and
applause for his impressive dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Dr. James Langlois upon the occasion of being named the
2015 New York State School Superintendent of the Year by the State Coun-
cil of School Superintendents; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. James Langlois.
