LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Raymond A. Susice, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Raymond A. Susice of St. Regis Falls, New York, died on
Thursday, February 11, 2016, at the age of 85; and
WHEREAS, Affectionately known as Ray, Raymond A. Susice was born on
March 31, 1930, in Santa Clara to the late Julius and Virginia (Barcomb)
Susice; and
WHEREAS, Raymond A. Susice distinguished himself in his profession and
by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the area, Raymond A. Susice graduated
from St. Regis Falls High School and earned his one year certificate
while attending a trade school for mechanics; he participated in the
building of the Niagara Falls Dam prior to the start of his illustrious
40 year career as a Mill Wright at ALCOA; and
WHEREAS, On September 13, 1958, Raymond A. Susice was married to Anita
E. Conley at St. Ann's Church in St. Regis Falls; the couple shared a
blessed loving union of 56 years built upon faith and family before
Anita's passing in January of 2015; and
WHEREAS, Raymond A. Susice's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including char-
itable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering love and dedication for his
community, Raymond A. Susice served the Town of Waverly in many capaci-
ties; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed man was a member of the Maple Leaf Housing
Council and the Solid Waste Management board, where he organized for
grants and was instrumental in the planning and development of the
building renovations in St. Regis Falls; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Raymond A. Susice served on the Senior Citizens
Board of Directors, and was a member of St. Ann's Church, Benz Pond
Club, SRF Sportsman's Club, Red Tavern Club as well as an honorary
member of the Everton Club, Knights of Columbus and SRF Fire Department;
and
WHEREAS, An avid outdoorsman, Raymond A. Susice enjoyed hunting, fish-
ing, trapping, and four-wheeling, but especially adored times spent at
camp with his family and friends; he truly filled his 85 years with
adventures and memories to last a lifetime, and he will be greatly
missed by all those who were lucky enough to know him; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his siblings, Eugene, Joseph, Matilda, Rich-
ard, Norman, Blanch, Ethel, Jennie, Catherine, Francis, and Edward,
Raymond A. Susice is survived by his three children, Richard (Norma),
Sonya (Gar) and Michael; six grandchildren, Anthony, Ryan, Jordan,
Kevin, Jason and Joseph; a great-grandson, Mason; and his sister, Joyce;
and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Raymond A. Susice leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Raymond A. Susice, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Raymond A. Susice.
