LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Linda G. Orth upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Achievers Award by the Long Island
Center for Business & Professional Women

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Linda G. Orth
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Achievers Award
by the Long Island Center for Business & Professional Women, to be cele-
brated at its 37th Annual Awards Gala on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the
Fox Hollow, Woodbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Long Island Center for Business & Professional Women will
honor Linda G. Orth with this auspicious award in recognition of her
extraordinary achievements and significant contributions in her field,
opening doors for others to foster a rise in business, the professions,
and the community-at-large; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of St. John's University with a Bachelor's degree
in Finance, Linda G. Orth is Vice President in the Internal Loan Review
Division at New York Community Bancorp, a position she recently
accepted; and
WHEREAS, Prior to serving in this capacity, Linda G. Orth was a
Commercial Lending Relationship Manager with New York Commercial Bank, a
subsidiary of New York Community Bank; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her illustrious 36-year career in the banking
industry, Linda G. Orth has handled a diverse portfolio of middle market
commercial loans; she served North Fork Bank as Vice President and
Commercial Loan Officer; and
WHEREAS, In addition, she served in the Real Estate Lending Division
at European American Bank, during which time she was accepted into the
Bank's Credit Officer training program in Chicago, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, As a 14-year member of the Long Island Center for Business &
Professional Women, Linda G. Orth was the Chairwomen of the Community
Outreach and Development Committee; in June of 2012, she became Presi-
dent of the Center for a two year term, and has remained on the Board as
Past President; and
WHEREAS, Active within the community, Linda G. Orth has been involved
with many organizations on Long Island, volunteering her time for vari-
ous fundraising activities with the American Cancer Society, Island
Harvest, Suffolk County Coalition against Domestic Violence, Dress for
Success, American Heart Association, Walk to End Alzheimer's, ALS,
Marcum Workplace Challenge and Macy's Thanks for Sharing Program; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, most recently Linda G. Orth has become involved
with the Wildlife Conservation Society's, "Run for the Wild", held in
the spring at the Bronx Zoo; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Linda G. Orth has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the

recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Linda G. Orth upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Achievers Award by the Long Island Center for Business & Profes-
sional Women; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Linda G. Orth.
