LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Eilene Fisher upon the occasion of her
designation as Community Leader of the Year by the Schoharie County
Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Eilene Fisher
upon the occasion of her designation as Community Leader of the Year by
the Schoharie County Chamber of Commerce, to be celebrated at its Annual
Business Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Friday, April 1, 2016, at
Cavern's Palace, Howes Cave, New York; and
WHEREAS, Eilene Fisher has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Cobleskill, New York, Eilene Fisher joined
the United States Army as a dental technician in 1991, during which time
she valiantly served her country in Operation Desert Storm; and
WHEREAS, After actively serving at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Hawaii and
Fort Gordon, Georgia, Eilene Fisher returned home to pursue a dental
hygiene degree at Hudson Valley Community College; in addition, she
joined the 326th Medical Battalion Army Reserve Unit in Albany, New
York, which eventually became the 864th Combat Support Hospital; and
WHEREAS, During this time, Eilene Fisher traveled to Guatemala and
Ecuador on medical missions, as well as Germany and several states with-
in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Eilene Fisher graduated in 2002 with a dental hygiene degree,
and currently serves as a Schoharie County veterans service officer, the
esteemed position she has held since 2008; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering dedication to Schoharie Coun-
ty, Eilene Fisher volunteers with several local organizations; through-
out the entire period of this community service, a period of construc-
tive involvement, Eilene Fisher has stood constant in dignity, good
grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her two children, Thomas and
Joseph, both of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Eilene Fisher has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Eilene Fisher upon the occasion of her designation as Community
Leader of the Year by the Schoharie County Chamber of Commerce; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Eilene Fisher.
