LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Steven Saar upon the occasion of his
designation as the 2016 Junior Firefighter of the Year by the Mineola
Junior Fire Department

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to commend Steven Saar upon
the occasion of his designation as the 2016 Junior Firefighter of the
Year by the Mineola Junior Fire Department to be celebrated at its 14th
Annual Junior's Installation Dinner at its Department Hall in Mineola,
New York, on Saturday, April 23, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Steven Saar is a student at Mineola High School where he is
frequently on the honor roll, his work ethic, initiative and willingness
to go above and beyond what he is called to do have earned him the
respect and admiration of his peers; and
WHEREAS, Since November 4, 2013, Steven Saar has been an exemplary and
extremely active member of the Mineola Junior Fire Department; for over
two years, he has participated in many activities and trainings; and
WHEREAS, Always willing to lend a hand, Steven Saar is eager to
participate and assist newer members; in addition he helps at numerous
community events such as the Mineola Village Halloween Party or the
Operation Santa program; and
WHEREAS, Steven Saar also participated in many fundraisers for worthy
causes including the Wounded Warriors, Lustgarten Foundation, Lions
Club, Churches, Youth programs, and many others; and
WHEREAS, When he is not at school or the firehouse, Steven Saar is a
member of the track team and likes to weld, work with wood, fish and
collect and trade sneakers; and
WHEREAS, Steven Saar is looking forward to joining the Mineola Fire
Department and dreams of earning a living as a firefighter or a police
officer; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others
and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with family
and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need; Steven
Saar desires to be such a firefighter; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, Steven
Saar now stands honorably, with just pride in his accomplishments and in
eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciating
the caring counsel and support provided by Senior Firefighters, mentors,
and his parents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Steven Saar upon the occasion of his designation as the 2016
Junior Firefighter of the Year by the Mineola Junior Fire Department;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Junior Firefighter Steven Saar.
