LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating student-athlete Aubrianna Lantrip
upon the occasion of capturing First Place in High Jump at the New York
State Indoor Track & Field Championships

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
student-athlete Aubrianna Lantrip upon the occasion of capturing First
Place in High Jump at the New York State Track Indoor Track & Field
Championships held at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, on March
5, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Aubrianna Lantrip, the daughter of Lori and Richard Lantrip
and a senior at Midlakes High School, competed against high jumpers from
across New York State, earning first place honors with a spectacular
5'9" jump and a new personal best record; and
WHEREAS, Prior to winning the state tournament, Aubrianna Lantrip
captured the Wayne-Finger Lakes League titles in both the high jump and
triple jump, and became the Sectional Champion in the high jump, long
jump, and triple jump; she is also the Houghton Invitational High Jump
Champion; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this exceptional athlete has set new Midlakes
High School records in the long jump, triple jump, high jump, and 300
meter dash, and holds the Wayne-Finger Lakes all-time high jump record;
and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous awards and honors, Aubrianna
Lantrip was presented with the Rochester Winter All-League Award, the
Wayne-Finger Lakes Most Valuable Female Athlete Award and the Section V
Class C Outstanding Female Field Athlete Award; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Aubrianna Lantrip was selected to the All-Greater
Rochester First Team, and was named both Athlete of the Year and All-
Star Team member by the Canandaigua DAILY MESSENGER; and
WHEREAS, Aubrianna Lantrip's overall performance is outstanding; she
was loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans, friends and
the community at large; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Aubrianna Lantrip has clearly made a contribution to
the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of her community and
school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate student-athlete Aubrianna Lantrip upon the occasion of
capturing First Place in High Jump at the New York State Indoor Track &
Field Championships; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Aubrianna Lantrip.
