LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the William
K. Sanford Town Library on April 8, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across the great State
of New York is reflective of certain exemplary institutions whose
purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the needs of its citi-
zenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 40th Anniversary of the William K. Sanford Town Library to be
celebrated at its Great Gatsby Gala held on Friday, April 8, 2016, at
the Shaker Ridge Country Club in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1976, the William K. Sanford Town Library has
long served as a valuable resource for the citizens of the Capital
Region, and has remained a place of community and a vital source of
information for all; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, the William K. Sanford Town Library has expe-
rienced many changes, including the transition from card catalogs to
online catalogs, and the growth of public access computers and wireless
networks; and
WHEREAS, Today, this remarkable institution offers a variety of
programs and technologies to help members of the community both young
and old achieve their full potential; currently, the library offers its
patrons access to downloadable material and electronic resources from
home; and
WHEREAS, The success of the William K. Sanford Town Library is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its staff, whose involvement is,
and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the institution and the community it serves;
and
WHEREAS, Steeped in a proud and distinguished history, the William K.
Sanford Town Library may take just pride in its purposeful growth, as it
looks forward to continuing to serve the educational, cultural and
intellectual needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when insti-
tutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the William K. Sanford Town Library
on April 8, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the William K. Sanford Town Library.
