LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Farm Credit East upon the occasion of
celebrating 100 years of service to the agriculture industry on April 1,
2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality and
character of life in this great Empire State is indelibly enriched by
the faithful efforts of those financial institutions and their leader-
ship who devote their purpose to promoting economic vitality and service
the public need; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Farm Credit East upon the occasion of celebrating 100 years of service
to the agriculture industry to be celebrated at the Long Island Farm
Bureau's 98th Annual Awards Gala on Friday, April 1, 2016, at the River-
head Polish Hall, Riverhead, New York; and
WHEREAS, July 17, 2016, marks 100 years since President Woodrow Wilson
signed the Federal Farm Loan Act (FLA), thereby launching the Farm Cred-
it System; this vital System was founded to provide the necessary credit
to support America's agriculture and rural communities; and
WHEREAS, Today, Farm Credit East continues to operate under the same
tenets on which it was founded: farmer-ownership, expertise in the
industries served and commitment to farmers' success; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional financial cooperative offers a full range of
credit and financial services to more than 13,700 customers in their
seven-state territory from Maine to New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, Farm Credit East serves people involved in the business of
agriculture, including farmers, nursery and greenhouse operations,
forest products businesses, fishermen, lobstermen, part-time growers,
agribusinesses and country home owners; and
WHEREAS, An integral part of the Long Island agriculture community,
Farm Credit East strives to continue to adapt and to make the necessary
investments to create value for its customers today and tomorrow; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body looks favorably upon the strong role
which institutions such as Farm Credit East play in strengthening the
social and economic fabric of our communities through providing growth
opportunities for citizens and businesses; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Farm Credit East upon the occasion of celebrating 100 years of
service to the agriculture industry on April 1, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Farm Credit East.
