LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Tara VanHorn upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT
honoring the 2015 Professional Women and Women in Business
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Tara VanHorn has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Tara VanHorn
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT honoring the 2015 Professional Women and Women
in Business; and
WHEREAS, In 1997, Tara VanHorn minored in Math and earned her bach-
elor's degree in Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University; she
furthered her education by obtaining her accounting degree from Mount
St. Mary College; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Tara VanHorn is both a New York and Pennsylvania
State certified Emergency Medical Technician; and
WHEREAS, While a student, Tara VanHorn began her 16-year career with
Walmart; she rose through the ranks, serving in a middle management
position, where she was responsible for seven stores; and
WHEREAS, In October of 2012, Tara VanHorn was hired as a Finance
Administrator at Cornell Cooperative Extension and was quickly promoted
to the position of Finance Manager; in this capacity, she handles all
financial responsibilities and operations of the association including
analysis, budgeting, minor accounts payable/accounts receivable book-
keeping duties and assisting the Executive Director and Board of Direc-
tors with various financial concerns; and
WHEREAS, In her role as Finance Manager, Tara VanHorn enjoys working
on events such as the Little World's Fair and the Annual Gala, and tack-
ling her daily financial duties; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community in which she lives and works, Tara
VanHorn serves as a Volunteer Firefighter with the Matamoras Fire
Department and both a Volunteer EMT and Certified EMT for Port Jervis;
and
WHEREAS, When she is not working, Tara VanHorn enjoys spending time
with her wife and new baby, Amelia, and travelling to Hawaii and Virgi-
nia Beach; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her wife, Rebecca, and her
mother, Linda, who feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice
in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Tara VanHorn has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Tara VanHorn upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT honoring the 2015 Profes-
sional Women and Women in Business; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Tara VanHorn.
