LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Officer Claudia Delgado upon the occa-
sion of her designation for special recognition by the Tri Community and
Youth Agency

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Officer Claudia Delgado upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Tri Community and Youth Agency to be celebrated at
its Hall of Honor Cocktail Party and Dinner on Thursday, March 31, 2016,
at the Woodbury Country Club, Woodbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Tri Community and Youth Agency is a private, not-for-pro-
fit community based agency dedicated to supporting the growth and devel-
opment of youth and their families in the communities of Huntington,
South Huntington and Cold Spring Harbor; and
WHEREAS, For over 30 years, the Tri Community and Youth Agency has
provided a wide variety of educational, recreational, social, cultural,
athletic, counseling and advocacy programs, and worked closely with
businesses, school districts, law enforcement, community groups, govern-
ment agencies and other local organizations; and
WHEREAS, For the past six years, Claudia Delgado has displayed tremen-
dous enthusiasm, commitment and love for her community as a Suffolk
County Police Officer; currently, she serves as the Community Liaison
Officer for the Second Precinct; and
WHEREAS, The proud daughter of Columbian immigrants, Claudia Delgado
grew up in a home where only Spanish was spoken, and attended English as
a Second Language classes, where she learned to speak, write and read
English; and
WHEREAS, Claudia Delgado committed herself to her studies, and after
graduating from Deer Park High School, continued on to the New York
College of Health Professions; she furthered her education by enrolling
in Farmingdale State College where she earned her degree as a Licensed
Dental Hygienist; and
WHEREAS, With a sense of civic responsibility, Claudia Delgado entered
the Suffolk County Police Department Academy, and after completing her
training, was subsequently assigned to District II; and
WHEREAS, Prior to becoming a Community Liaison Officer, Officer Clau-
dia Delgado served and protected her fellow citizens in the Huntington
and Greenlawn areas; and
WHEREAS, Drawing on her experience as a child of immigrants, Officer
Claudia Delgado has displayed an innate ability to interact with people
from a variety of backgrounds, and is committed to enhancing community
relations within the town of Huntington; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, this esteemed law enforcement officer
regularly communicates with civic leaders to help organize numerous
community events including Vamos A Hablar (Let's Talk), National Night
Out, basketball tournaments and free Holiday Turkey Giveaways which
increase ties between the police and the public it serves; and
WHEREAS, Officer Claudia Delgado has received public recognition from
numerous sources including Univision, where she spoke about bridging the
gap between the Hispanic community and the Suffolk County Police Depart-
ment; and

WHEREAS, Officer Claudia Delgado has been called upon to contribute
her time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; she often enjoys taking the youth
from the Huntington community to professional baseball and basketball
games; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Officer Claudia Delgado has
displayed throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Officer Claudia Delgado upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Tri Community and Youth Agency; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Officer Claudia Delgado.
