LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 90th Anniversary of Fort Hill
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 376 on December 6, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those patriotic
organizations and individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 90th Anniversary of Fort Hill American Legion Auxiliary Unit
376, celebrated on Saturday, December 6, 2014, in Oxford, New York; and
WHEREAS, Fort Hill American Legion Auxiliary Unit 376 was first char-
tered in 1924 by 12 women from Oxford, New York; its charter was
presented by the hand and seal of the fourth American Legion Auxiliary
President, Claire Oliphant, who was the Chairman of the first Women's
Patriotic Conference on National Defense and a recipient of the Distin-
guished Service Medal Ribbon; and
WHEREAS, The longevity of any organization is due to the faithful
dedication of its members, and the American Legion Auxiliary has had
many wonderful volunteers throughout its nine decades of service; its
mission has been steadfast in helping veterans, military, their families
and children, as well as the community at large; and
WHEREAS, The dedicated and patriotic women of the American Legion
Auxiliary Fort Hill Unit 376 frequently work hand in hand with the
Post's Legionnaires and have hosted countless dinners, dances, craft
bazaars and fundraisers to provide for those who have so valiantly
served our great Nation; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Commander Darlene Ardron,
Fort Hill American Legion Auxiliary Unit 376 continues its dedication to
fostering the traditions of patriotism, excellence, and commitment which
have made our nation strong; and
WHEREAS, For 90 years, the women of Fort Hill American Legion Auxilia-
ry Unit 376 have distinguished themselves in service to their country
and their community; it is the custom of this Legislative Body to recog-
nize the significance of their contributions and to note their worthy
endeavors which have earned the recognition and applause of all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 90th Anniversary of Fort Hill American Legion Auxiliary
Unit 376, and to commend its members, past and present, on behalf of a
grateful community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Commander Darlene Ardron, Fort Hill American Legion Auxiliary
Unit 376.
