LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Michael Bel upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT 2016
Men at Work Edition

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Michael Bel has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Michael Bel
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT 2016 Men at Work Edition; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Johnson and Wales University, Michael Bel is
the Director of the Culinary & Pastry Arts Program at Sullivan County
Community College; for 30 years he has been in the commercial industry,
11 of those years at SUNY Sullivan; and
WHEREAS, Prior to this, Michael Bel has worked for the Ritz Carlton
Hotel Company, Walt Disney World Company, Hilton Hotels, and Trust House
Forte Hotels; and
WHEREAS, A third generation in the restaurant and hospitality indus-
try, Michael Bel enjoys watching his students mature and refine their
culinary skills and adores when his graduates contact him regarding
their professional successes; and
WHEREAS, When he is not cooking or teaching, Michael Bel loves to be
outdoors; in addition, all of his vacation spots are food knowledge-dri-
ven; he believes if you want to know how to make paella, you go to
Spain; a croissant, sauces or charcuterie, you go to the south of
France; or Peking duck, you go to Hong Kong; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Michael Bel has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberation to
honor Michael Bel upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT 2016 Men at Work Edition;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael Bel.
