LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 97th Anniversary of the
Alexandria Bay American Legion John B. Lyman Post 904

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those patriotic
organizations and individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 97th Anniversary of the Alexandria Bay American Legion John B.
Lyman Post 904, which was celebrated at a dinner held at the Post on
Saturday, March 19, 2016, in Alexandria Bay, New York; and
WHEREAS, The John B. Lyman Post 904 was first chartered in 1919, and
owes its longevity to the faithful dedication of its many wonderful
members; and
WHEREAS, Throughout its nearly 10 decades of service, the Post's
mission has been to help veterans, active military members, their fami-
lies and children, as well as the community at large; and
WHEREAS, The Post has supported not only local veterans but also coun-
ty and state veterans' programs and community programs; and
WHEREAS, The dedicated and patriotic members of the Alexandria Bay
American Legion Post 904 have supported such community youth organiza-
tions as local Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, baseball teams, Hearts for Youth,
Pay-It, Junior Shooting Sports, schools, oratorical contestants, and
Boys State and Girls State participants; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of outgoing Commander Richard
Drake, incoming Commander Dean Erck and Vice Commander Paul Beers, Amer-
ican Legion Post 904 continues its dedication to fostering the tradi-
tions of patriotism, excellence, and commitment which have made our
nation strong; and
WHEREAS, For 97 years, the members of American Legion Post 904 have
distinguished themselves in service to their country and their communi-
ty; it is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize the signif-
icance of their contributions and to note their worthy endeavors which
have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 97th Anniversary of the Alexandria Bay American Legion
Post 904, and to commend its members, past and present, on behalf of a
grateful community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to outgoing Commander Richard Drake, incoming Commander Dean
Erck, and Vice Commander Paul Beers, Alexandria Bay American Legion John
B. Lyman Post 904.
