LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Southold High School Varsity
Cheerleading Team upon the occasion of being named Winter Scholar
Athlete Team Champion in Competitive Cheerleading by the New York State
Public High School Athletic Association

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to congratulate the Southold
High School Varsity Cheerleading Team on being named Winter Scholar
Athlete Team Champion in Competitive Cheerleading by the New York State
Public High School Athletic Association; and
WHEREAS, The 2016 Southold High School Varsity Cheerleading Team has
been selected for this prestigious honor in recognition of its members
achieving the highest Grade Point Average in New York State for their
sport; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the efforts of Head Coach Kathy Williams, a skilled and inspira-
tional tutor, respected for her ability to develop potential into excel-
lence; and
WHEREAS, Loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans,
friends and the community at large, the members of the Southold High
School Varsity Cheerleading Team have proven themselves to be an unbeat-
able combination of athletic and academic talents, reflecting favorably
on their community; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Kathy Williams has done a superb job in guiding,
molding and inspiring these gifted young cheerleaders toward their
goals; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, these
scholar athletes now stand honorably, with just pride in their accom-
plishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding
and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided by their teach-
ers, coaches and parents; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people who represent their community with pride and determination while
participating in competitive sports are brought to our attention, they
should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of the great
State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Southold High School Varsity Cheerleading Team on being
named Winter Scholar Athlete Team Champion in Competitive Cheerleading
by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Southold High School Varsity Cheerleading Team, and Coach
Kathy Williams.
