LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lieutenant Steve Hauck upon the occasion
of his retirement after 21 years of dedicated service to the Utica
Police Department

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote them-
selves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in
providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities
and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lieutenant
Steve Hauck upon the occasion of his retirement after 21 years of dedi-
cated service to the Utica Police Department; and
WHEREAS, For over two decades, Lieutenant Steve Hauck has diligently
served the Utica Police Department, working in numerous capacities,
including Patrol Officer, Criminal Investigator, Tactical Unit Supervi-
sor and Lieutenant in the Uniform Patrol Division; for the past five
years, he held the title of Public Information Officer, a position from
which he retired in March of 2016; and
WHEREAS, In 1995, Steve Hauck began his distinguished career with the
Utica Police Department; 10 years later, he advanced to the role of
Sergeant, and in 2014, he was promoted to the esteemed rank of Lieuten-
ant; and
WHEREAS, In 2010, Sergeant Steve Hauck took the position of Public
Information Officer; in this capacity, he worked around the clock,
answering any calls and questions that the media had to inform the
public about incidents that were happening in their neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this esteemed public servant helped implement
the Utica Police Department's Facebook page, which has more than 42,000
likes; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lieutenant Steve Hauck upon the occasion of his retirement after
21 years of dedicated service to the Utica Police Department; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lieutenant Steve Hauck.
