LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Dr. Barry E. Goldman of the Village of
New Paltz, New York, for his 30 years of dedicated service to the New
Paltz Community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality of life in the communities across this great State of New York
is enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of those indi-
viduals whose singular purpose is the care and welfare of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Dr. Barry E. Goldman of the Village of New Paltz, New York, for his 30
years of dedicated service to the New Paltz Community; and
WHEREAS, Born in the Bronx, Barry E. Goldman and his family moved to
Oceanside, Long Island, when he was six years old; he came to New Paltz
after completing an internship in Kingston, New York; and
WHEREAS, Despite initial thoughts as a child of becoming an astronaut,
Barry E. Goldman gravitated toward medicine after becoming interested in
the life sciences, particularly biology, while still in high school; he
knew he wanted to help people, and he knew from the start he wanted to
go into family medicine; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Barry E. Goldman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Biology from Temple University, and a Doctor of Medicine degree from New
York Medical College in Valhalla, New York; and
WHEREAS, In 1986, Dr. Barry E. Goldman started a private practice and
took over an office from Dr. Forte, who was moving on to become a prison
doctor; and
WHEREAS, Like a traditional country doctor from an earlier era, Dr.
Barry E. Goldman maintains his family practice in an office located next
door to his home on a quiet road of a wooded residential neighborhood;
and
WHEREAS, While the name of the practice, Goldman Family Medicine,
refers to Dr. Barry E. Goldman's family practice, it also encompasses
the fact that his wife and business partner, Michele "Mickey" Kee Gold-
man, serves as nurse practitioner; before becoming a nurse practitioner
in 2003, Mickey was the office nurse and business manager running the
business side of the practice; and
WHEREAS, In his practice, Dr. Barry E. Goldman treats entire families,
from mom and dad to grandparents and grandchildren, and has seen many of
the same families over the course of 30 years; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Barry E. Goldman is even known to occasionally make a
house call if the patient is elderly and truly cannot get to the office;
he hopes to stay in business at least another ten years; and
WHEREAS, What keeps people coming back to Goldman Family Medicine is
the personal attention and care they are given; and
WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of his duties and responsibil-
ities, Dr. Barry E. Goldman's ongoing efforts and notable achievements
have significantly contributed to bettering the quality of life in his
community; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Mickey, his two chil-
dren, Emily and Danny, and his granddaughter, Gabriella Michele, who
feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their profession and community,
and have shown a long and sustained commitment, certainly have earned
the recognition and applause of all citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations
commend Dr. Barry E. Goldman of the Village of New Paltz, New York, for
his 30 years of dedicated service to the New Paltz Community; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Barry E. Goldman.
