LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring E. Stewart Jones upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Envoy Salute by the Albany-Colonie
Chamber of Commerce on March 5, 2015
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor E. Stewart
Jones upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Envoy
Salute by the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce, to be celebrated at
its 115th Annual Dinner on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at the Empire State
Plaza Convention Center, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award is being presented by the Albany-Colo-
nie Chamber of Commerce to E. Stewart Jones for his leadership, philan-
thropy and impact on the economic vitality of the region; and
WHEREAS, E. Stewart Jones graduated from Williams College in 1963, and
earned his law degree from Albany Law School in 1966; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed man is a Partner in the E. Stewart Jones Hacker
Murphy Law Firm and is currently President of the Legal Aid Society of
Northeastern New York as well as a member of its Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, E. Stewart Jones has provided his luminous guidance as Chair
and co-Chair of the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York's Justice
for All Campaign, and has been actively involved in ensuring its success
since 2004; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, E. Stewart
Jones has been listed in BEST LAWYERS IN AMERICA, from its very first
edition in 1983, to its current edition, in the categories of Personal
Injury Litigation, Criminal Defense, and Malpractice Litigation; and
WHEREAS, In addition, for his steadfast dedication to the community he
so ably serves, E. Stewart Jones has received the Hope House Circle of
Hope Award, Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Humanitarian Award, Susan G.
Komen for the Cure-NENY Pink Tie Guys Award, the Albany Academies
Philanthropy Award, and the Lifetime Advocate Award by the New York
State Trial Lawyers Association, among countless others; and
WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of his duties and volunteer
efforts, E. Stewart Jones' ongoing endeavors and notable achievements
have significantly contributed to bettering the quality of life in his
community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor E. Stewart Jones upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Envoy Salute by the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce on March
5, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to E. Stewart Jones.
