LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Thomas J. Sullivan, Principal of Bish-
op Timon-St. Jude High School, upon the occasion of his retirement after
many distinguished years as an educator
WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled; its
history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its educa-
tional professionals and the students they inspire; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have been instru-
mental in developing character and academic excellence in the young
people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Thomas J. Sullivan upon the occasion of his retirement after many years
of dedicated service in education; he is officially retiring as Princi-
pal of Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School in Buffalo, New York, a posi-
tion he has held for the past 22 years; and
WHEREAS, A 1975 graduate of Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School, former-
ly Bishop Timon High School, Thomas J. Sullivan has served his alma
mater for 26 years as a dedicated and motivating member of the faculty,
as Director of Development, and most notably, as Principal, influencing
the direction of student lives and learning; and
WHEREAS, During his accomplished and invaluable tenure as Principal,
Thomas J. Sullivan oversaw the implementation of many academic inno-
vations such as courses in Mandarin Chinese and bioinformatics; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Thomas J. Sullivan oversaw the construction of
the James J. Rzad Center for the Study of Science and Math and the Crow-
ley Center for Media Arts, as well as the addition of wireless laptop
technology throughout the High School; and
WHEREAS, Graciously accepting the Board of Trustees invitation to
continue to advance the High School's mission and ministry beyond his
retirement, Thomas J. Sullivan will be advocating for a number of
special projects and initiatives throughout the 2016-2017 school year;
and
WHEREAS, Educators like Thomas J. Sullivan provide a tremendous
service to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
young people in their educational journeys and ensuring their success in
their future years; and
WHEREAS, Thomas J. Sullivan has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School, as well as on the communi-
ty-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for his
impressive dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public and private education by providing their skills and talents to
our schools; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Thomas J. Sullivan upon the occasion of his retirement after many
years of dedicated service in education, and for his significant
contributions to education in New York State; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Thomas J. Sullivan.
