LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Colin Lovelock upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2016 Volunteer of the Year Award by the
Northeastern Association of the Blind at Albany on April 16, 2016

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Colin Lovelock has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Colin Lovelock
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2016 Volunteer
of the Year Award by the Northeastern Association of the Blind at Alba-
ny, to be celebrated at its Annual Visionary Gala, on Saturday, April
16, 2016, at the Franklin Plaza Ballroom in Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Since 1908, the Northeastern Association of the Blind at
Albany (NABA) has provided comprehensive services and programs to resi-
dents of the greater Capital Region who are blind or visually impaired;
in 2015, they helped over 900 individuals of all ages across 11 counties
adapt to vision loss, maximize remaining vision, achieve their goals,
and expand their independence; and
WHEREAS, In addition, NABA offered screenings to over 3,300 children
between 18 months and five years of age for possible vision problems;
and
WHEREAS, A great admirer and recipient of NABA's extraordinary work,
Colin Lovelock proudly offers his talents and services to help this
vital organization communicate to the public the numerous ways in which
it improves the lives of people dealing with vision loss and disabili-
ties; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Niskayuna, New York, Colin Lovelock has worked
in television since 1984; for over 25 years, he has been designing,
producing and editing commercials, PSA's, and special video projects;
and
WHEREAS, In his role as Creative Service Producer, Colin Lovelock
oversees the creative design, writing, lighting and editing of projects
from the original concept through completion; and
WHEREAS, Interested in all facets of the television business, Colin
Lovelock is experienced in writing, videography and photography, as well
as a multitude of other skills which have made him very successful in
the industry; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his wife, Susan, who feels priv-
ileged to be a part of his life and rejoices in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism promotes family and community solidarity; most
importantly, people who give of their time in civic and charitable
endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Colin Lovelock has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Colin Lovelock upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2016 Volunteer of the Year Award by the Northeastern Association
of the Blind at Albany; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Colin Lovelock.
