LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending President and CEO David Patak upon the
occasion of his retirement after 23 years of distinguished service to
Lourdes Hospital

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality of life in the communities across this great State of New York
is enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of those indi-
viduals whose singular purpose is the care and welfare of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
David Patak upon the occasion of his retirement after 23 years of
distinguished service to Lourdes Hospital; he officially retired Novem-
ber 1, 2014, after more than five years as President and CEO; and
WHEREAS, A native of the Binghamton area, David Patak has worked in
the healthcare field for almost 40 years; and
WHEREAS, He began his illustrious career with Lourdes Hospital in
1991, initially serving as Senior Vice President of Operations, then as
the interim President and CEO; in March of 2009, he was named President
and CEO; and
WHEREAS, David Patak has made numerous contributions to Lourdes Hospi-
tal such as leading it through a number of changes, including the open-
ing of the Lourdes Ambulatory Care Center and the completion of a new
medical office in Vestal, New York; and
WHEREAS, David Patak was also instrumental in overseeing Mission 2012:
Building Tomorrow's Healthcare Today; this vital project proved Lourdes
Hospital's enduring commitment to both its patients and the community as
a whole; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Lourdes Hospital is the proud partner of the
Yes! Safe Choices for Kids program which is responsible for teaching
thousands of students how to make safe choices and stay away from drugs
and alcohol; this vital program has been successful due to the guidance
and support of David Patak; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure, David Patak has enabled Lourdes Hospital
to live up to its mission of providing high quality, patient centered,
spiritually based healthcare to all members of the community; and
WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of his duties and responsibil-
ities, David Patak's ongoing efforts and notable achievements have
significantly contributed to bettering the quality of life in his commu-
nity; and
WHEREAS, David Patak continuously displayed initiative and an unre-
lenting commitment when pursuing the highest of goals, and he has served
as a role model of leadership to be emulated by all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend David Patak upon the occasion of his retirement after 23 years
of distinguished service to Lourdes Hospital; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to David Patak.
