LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION memorializing Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to
proclaim May 4, 2016, as Orange Juice Day in the State of New York in

standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to memorial-
ize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim May 4, 2016, as Orange Juice
Day in the State of New York in conjunction with the observance of
National Orange Juice Day; and
WHEREAS, In the mid-1910s there was an overproduction of citrus fruits
in California, and consequently, the farmers destroyed 30% of their

became an important aspect of American culture, replacing the British
breakfast of stewed fruit; and
WHEREAS, Not only is orange juice delicious, but it has more nutrients
than virtually any other fruit juice; one eight-ounce serving of orange
juice has 124 milligrams of vitamin C and supplies potassium, thiamine
and folate; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and pay
tribute to the orange juice industry and officially recognize May 4,
2016, as Orange Juice Day in the State of New York; now, therefore, be
