LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Board Chair Emeritus Jon Lukomnik upon
the occasion of his designation for special recognition at a Benefit and
Elizabethan Feast celebrating the 400th Anniversary of the Life and
Works of William Shakespeare by New York Classical Theatre on April 21,
2016

WHEREAS, From time to time, this Legislative Body takes note of certain
individuals that it wishes to recognize for having given of their time
and energies to serve the best interests of their communities and to
publicly acknowledge their service; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Board Chair Emeritus Jon Lukomnik upon the occasion of his designation
for special recognition at a Benefit and Elizabethan Feast celebrating
the 400th Anniversary of the Life and Works of William Shakespeare by
New York Classical Theatre on Thursday, April 21, 2016, in New York
City; and
WHEREAS, From 2004 through 2014, Jon Lukomnik served on the Board of
New York Classical Theatre, nine years as Chair; under his surefooted
leadership, the company grew both artistically and financially, expand-
ing to numerous venues throughout New York City and continuing to
provide a growing audience with excellent classical theatre for free;
and
WHEREAS, A recognized expert in corporate governance and institutional
investing, Jon Lukomnik is one of the only people in the world to have
run a Top 10 pension fund in New York City, been a managing director of
a Top 10 hedge fund (CDC), and served on the creditor's committee to
rehabilitate Worldcom; and
WHEREAS, Jon Lukomnik is managing partner of Sinclair Capital LLC, a
strategic consultancy to institutional investors and the investment
management industry as well as Executive Director for the IRRC Insti-
tute, which provides thought leadership at the intersection of corporate
responsibility and the informational needs of investors; and
WHEREAS, Today, Jon Lukomnik is a Trustee for the Van Eck mutual fund
complex and serves on the Standing Advisory Group to the Public Company
Accounting Oversight Board; and
WHEREAS, Additionally, Jon Lukomnik is co-author of THE NEW CAPITAL-
ISTS, a pick of the year by the FINANCIAL TIMES; his newest book, WHAT
THEY DO WITH YOUR MONEY: HOW THE FINANCIAL SYSTEM FAILS US AND HOW TO
FIX IT, will be published in May and has drawn advance praise from
former United Kingdom Prime Minister Gordon Brown, former United States
Senator Chris Dodd, and Vanguard Founder Jack Bogle; and
WHEREAS, New York Classical Theatre is celebrating the 400th Anniver-
sary of the Life and Works of William Shakespeare with a myriad of
events and celebrations planned throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, New York Classical Theatre's first benefit featured a Royal
Tribute to Jon Lukomnik, as well as pop-up performances and an Eliza-
bethan Feast of historic foods curated for the modern palate; and
WHEREAS, This summer, in celebration of the Bard's life and work, New
York Classical Theatre will present two of his most beloved plays, "A
Midsummer Night's Dream" and "The Winter's Tale"; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Board Chair Emeritus Jon Lukomnik upon the occasion of his

designation for special recognition at a Benefit and Elizabethan Feast
celebrating the 400th Anniversary of the Life and Works of William Shak-
espeare by New York Classical Theatre on April 21, 2016; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Board Chair Emeritus Jon Lukomnik, New York Classical Thea-
tre.
