LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Genevieve Dumser upon the occasion
of celebrating her 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Gene-
vieve Dumser upon the occasion of celebrating her 100th Birthday to be
celebrated on Sunday, June 5, 2016, at the Salisbury Mills Fire House,
Salisbury Mills, New York; and
WHEREAS, Genevieve Dumser was born on June 6, 1916, in the Greenpoint
neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York; she was one of eight children born
to Mary and Joseph Modrakowski, Polish immigrants who arrived in the
United States around 1910; and
WHEREAS, During her career, Genevieve Dumser ably served as clerical
employee of the New York City Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, On March 11, 1944, the former Genevieve Modrakowski married
the late August Dumser, and together, they were the proud parents of one
son, August (Rita), and the loving grandparents of three grandchildren,
Tom (Catherine), Matt, and Laura; and
WHEREAS, Today, this exceptional centenarian is a resident of the
Valley View Nursing Home, and enjoys spending time with members of her
family, including her nieces, nephews and grandchildren, as well as her
great nieces and nephews; and
WHEREAS, Genevieve Dumser has experienced the incredible joys and
sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the stamina and
courage to savor a full life; and
WHEREAS, This beloved woman continues to enrich the lives of those
around her through her joyous and sincere love for others and through
the quiescent charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of
years; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have witnessed
and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and awesome
achievements of this country during the last century, while themselves
contributing to the growth and excellence of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Genevieve Dumser upon the occasion of celebrating her 100th
Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Genevieve Dumser.
